STUDIO ESCALIER is a studio intensive art school and
international arts residency program, designed and directed by master practitioners, dedicated to the
contemporary classical study of drawing and painting from life.
Admission to our 3-month Intensive Courses in drawing and painting -- and to our new
Monthly Programs and Winter Drawing Intensive in Paris -- is by advance application only.
Anyone may apply, there are no academic or other pre-requisites to apply as a student.
It is an open admissions process, based mainly on a review of artwork done from life.
Now offering courses in the heart of Paris as well as in Argenton-Chateau, France, we are an international point of contact for professionals,
emerging artists and beginning art students alike, attracting members of many
different North American and European figurative schools and traditions.
(NYC, Boston, Philadelphia, Toronto, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco; France, UK, Ireland, Germany,
Holland, Italy, Spain, and Russia).
We receive artists from New York to New Zealand, and all points in between (Fairbanks, Miami, Beijing, Johannesburg).
We are of interest to those who wish to place working from the human figure
at the center of their artistic training, or those who
have achieved enough as artists to openly re-evaluate, question, investigate and improve how they work from life.
Our student body includes career painters, portraitists, muralists, illustrators, art directors, college art teachers,
set designers, concept artists, animators, graphic artists, art therapists, architects, sculptors, gifted undergraduate students in all these fields, and career-oriented
beginners.
